George Perry's Homegoing

Beside the casket at the front of the church was a display of The Original Perrys with P-1, also on display was his Cowboy Hat with his Leather Ostrich Coat and his Ostrich Boots.

Because of Mr. Perry's love of busses and Gospel Music, the Funeral Procession was led by the busses of The Accords and The Perrys followed immediately by the entire family.

Then Mr. Brad Beaton played AMAZING GRACE on the bagpipes
as the casket was led inside the church.

The pallbearers were as follows:
Randy Perry, Tracy Stuffle, Chuck Trivette, Jamie Bramlett,
Olan Whitt, Ernest Benchcroft, Ken DeLong, & Michael Pilling


Order of service:
"1'm A Winner Either Way" - Mike Upright (Standing Tall)
Speaker: A Eulogy was given by Rev. Rodney Pilcher (Pastor - Mill Creek Baptist Church)

"Another Soldier Coming Home" - Janet Paschal (Compact Disc)
Rev. Charles Grant - former Pastor Mill Creek Baptist Church


Wish You Were Here - Krisi Perry Pilling (Loren and Joseph backing up)


Krisi spoke about her grandfather,
and how she remembers although
not a perfect man, he was a man
who loved God and his family.


Rev. Bill Bailey - Pastor Happy Gospel Center
Bill spoke about how Mr. Perry would always come to see his "kids"
and how he love the family and was so proud of the group. He recalled
conversations and told stories of George and his times with him.

Debra Perry DeLong read P-1's last thoughts before coming ill.

They went to school together, and he spoke about
what a day that would be when he could see P-1
again and talk to him.

"Still Blessed" - The Perrys

At this point, Lib Stuffle spoke about her Father and
that he left her 3 things in life that money could not buy:
1) He introduced me to the Lord
2) He gave me a firm foundation to stand on and
3) morals to live by

Looking Ahead - The Perrys
At Libbi's request, Joseph Habedank
sang "What A Day That Will Be"

Randy Perry presented the two nurses that cared for P-1 with flowers
and shared the family's appreciation for the care they gave him.
Sherry Moore was with Mr. Perry the last 2 days and
Wanda Edwards (ICU Nurses at Northeast Georgia Medical Center)
is the Nurse that Randy walked in on Wanda
one morning and Wanda was over Mr. Perry
telling him that she had prayed for him that morning for about 20 minutes
before she came to work. They were acknowledged for
not only their professional care, but for the way
they cared for P-1 like he was their own Father.
The Perry family was especially grateful for their service.
In Randy's closing, he sang Amazing Grace at the Casket,
and was joined by his 3 sisters (Libbi, Debra & Rachel)
and his mom, Fannie Perry & the church joined in with the family.

At the viewing of the body, Jacky Fortner sang
"I'll Be Waiting at The River" and "Here I Am"

The remaining of the music was done by Loren, Joseph and Jackie
joined by the Accords, The Pickerings, & Vonnie Woods.

The casket was the led to the cemetery by the bagpipes playing "Amazing Grace"

Tommy Panter, Pastor of Winds of Peace Church (Debra Perry DeLong's Pastor) gave closing thoughts at the graveside. Michael Pilling, US Army Ranger, & Michael Elliot, US Navy, (Lib's Cousin) folded the Christian Flag.

Michael Pilling (Randy's Son-In Law (married to Krisi) presented the Christian flag to Mrs. Perry stating: "Mr. Perry was not part of my army, but he was a part of God's army. He was promoted to General today."

67 White Balloons were released to mark the homegoing of
Mr. George P-1 Perry as family and friends
sang "Welcome To Heaven."
*George was 67 when he passed away.

Aaron Crisler, webmaster for The Perrys,
assisted with funeral preparations and sound
and photographed the funeral for the website.

Jacky Fortner and Adam's Flowers provided Flower Preparation and
assistance for the hundred of flower arrangements that arrived for the funeral.

Mr. Perry was one of the founding members of The Southern Gospel Music Guild,
The Gospel Music Trust Fund, and The Christian Music Academy.
He was a member and Deacon of Mill Creek Baptist Church and
was the founder of The Perry's Gospel Gold Promotions.
